The inaugural César Awards ceremony took place on April 3, 1976, at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. The event aimed to recognize and celebrate excellence in French filmmaking across various categories, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor/Actress.

Foundation and Growth: Over the years, the César Awards grew in stature, attracting increasing attention from both the French public and the international film community. The ceremony became a highlight of the French cultural calendar, showcasing the best of French cinema to the world.

Throughout its history, the César Awards faced controversies and challenges, including debates over nominations, diversity issues, and criticism of the voting process. However, these challenges also prompted important discussions about representation and equality in the film industry.
