MUSIC BEHIND THE SCENES
(a concert)
Free passes available on eventjini.com
Music for Indian cinema usually comprise of both foreground music (the songs) and background music (the underscore). While the songs enjoy wide popularity, the underscore arguably receives lesser attention amongst movie going audience. Awareness relating to creativity and creative practices relating to background music scoring remains, at best, limited to music making processes. This event is an attempt to present some significant aspects of background music scoring to the wider public.
Three scenes will be played back from the tamil feature film “Mozhi”(2007). Their situational contexts will be explained to you.
Following this, two student composers from the School of Indian Film Music will individually perform their respective background music compositions for each scene. The evening concludes with an open discussion addressing the presented music and also background music scoring in general.
