present a DJ concert & workshop by
JEAN DU VOYAGE
Entry free and open to all ! Free passes available on eventjini.com
With such a stage name, it is not surprising that Jean du Voyage makes music that is nomadic and universal.
DJ with many titles to his credit (DMC, IDA, TKO), beatmaker, producer and turntablist, passionate musician and fan of music, our adventurer has been making music since 1998.
In the dawn of the 21st century, soul, funk, reggae, hip-hop and jazz – his first love – crossed paths with the massive bass and strong break of electronic music; this is the DNA of his music. He craves new type of music mixing abstract hip-hop with flamenco, breakbeat with maloya, dubstep with Indian raga and Gnawa.
He has done many collabs with singers and musicians as well as with plasticians and video makers.
His current project comes directly from his passion for creating a link between different cultures and generations. He wants to highlight cultural exchange through a musical venture and through the scratch technique. This is his way of paying tribute to the musical diversity of our planet and to take the listener on a musical journey.
WORKSHOP
JDV will be conducting a workshop on initiation to music through the ‘Scratch’ technique. The workshop is aimed at 7 to 77 year olds, irrespective of their knowledge in music.
2 sessions of a 3 hour workshop with groups of seven people will be conducted in the morning and evening respectively. He will begin by explaining fundamental theories and presenting the equipment used (turntable, vinyl, mixer console…).
This will be followed by practical exercises to learn different scratch techniques.
The workshop will end with a demonstration by the artist and with a improve session with the participants.
