The play “Kattiakkaran” (Narrator) is one of the most well-known plays from Mr. N. Muthusamy, the founder, director and playwright of the theatre company Koothu-p-Pattarai. It explores an original idea : changing the format of a traditional play with several narrators instead of only one ! This show plays around with rules governing the traditionnal Koothu performance and poses powerful questions, intertwining tradition and a new idiom for the contemporary stage brought brilliantly to life by the director Prasanna Ramaswamy and the company’s wonderful cast.
