L’Illusionniste
At the end of the 1950’s, a revolution is shaking up the music hall universe: the spectacular success of rock’n’roll music, whose young stars draw in crowds., while traditional acts – acrobats, jugglers, ventriloquists – are seen as old fashioned. Our hero, the illusionist, is only too aware that he is now part of an endangered category of artists. As job offers dry up, he is forced to leave the great theatres of Paris and pack up his doves and his rabbit to try his luck in London… Based on an original screenplay by Jacques Tati, The Illusionist won the César of the best animated film in 2011.
